Magnetic Memory in an Isotopically Enriched and MagneticallyIsolated Mononuclear Dysprosium Complex

Résumé

The influence of nuclear spin on the magnetichysteresis of a single-molecule is evidenced. Isotopicallyenriched DyIII complexes are synthesized and an isotopicdependence of their magnetic relaxation is observed. Thisapproach is coupled with tuning of the molecular environmentthrough dilution in an amorphous or an isomorphous diamagneticmatrix. The combination of these approaches leads toa dramatic enhancement of the magnetic memory of themolecule. This general recipe can be efficient for rationaloptimization of single-molecule magnets (SMMs), and providesan important step for their integration into moleculebaseddevices.
